Katakana: photographs of kudzu and wisteria in my back yard
(2012-2013)


Kudzu and wisteria are not native to my home.
They have no natural enemies here
and they swallow the earth in the warm southern sun.

It is in the winter months, when the leaves have dried and fallen
and the skeletal stalks remain
that the transparency of the vines hints at the earth below.

And in the spring, the flowers return.
